How To Claim For Insurance Building Repairs
If your house or business has been damaged by natural disasters or accidental or malicious damage, and you want to claim for insurance building repairs, here’s some imformation that may help the process go a little smoother.
The first thing you want to do is get in contact with your insurer to find out the following:
- Are you covered for that type of damage?
- What is the scope of the cover?
- Are you covered for the cost of removing any debris?
- Do you qualify for temporary accommodation?
Once you know the above information, we recommend making a list of items you’ve lost (include as much information as you can, from age and model, etc) and also, if possible take photos of damaged goods. Your insurer will also advise you on any additonal information or steps that they require, but, as a minimum, be prepared to do the above.
Then you can lodge your claim with your insurer.
From there, for insurance building repairs an assessor / estimator will come and inspect and report on the damage. They will also quote on the repairs required to bring your building back to its original condition.
A representative from Felder Contractors will then come and review the property, and quote on the work required. This ensures that the project is correctly quoted and removes any chance of under or over quoting.
Post Inspection:
If the quote for repairs is covered by your insurance and meets the guidelines of your PDS (product disclosure statement) your repair work will be scheduled to begin.
You will then be required (if applicable) to pay your excess and sign off on a copy of the authorised repairs.
Once all this is done, we will begin your project and aim to get you back into your home as fast as possible.
Throughout the entire process, one thing we guarantee to do, is keep you constantly updated with where the process and the project is up to. That way you’re never left wondering what is going on.
